Anglophone Catholic Community of Saarbrücken

English Mess at St. Joseph Catholic Church

Saarbrücken is a city where people from over 180 nations live together in peace.

Many Catholics have also immigrated to Germany, with English—or a language other than German—as their native tongue. The Anglophone Catholic Community of Saarbrücken was established for them.
It offers an opportunity to meet fellow believers and engage in discussions about the Catholic faith.

In addition to the weekly Sunday Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, the Anglophone community also holds Rosary prayers and Stations of the Cross devotions.

The community is open to everyone, regardless of where they come from or how long they have made Saarbrücken their new home.

History of the Anglophone Catholic Community of Saarbrücken

The Anglophone Community was founded in 2008 by Father Norbert Mushoff SVD—who had served as a priest in Ghana for many years—and Father Bernd Schikofsky, the long-standing parish priest of St. Josef in Saarbrücken.
After Father Mushoff SVD had to step down from leading the community for health reasons, Father Stephen Kwasi Dudo—the first priest from the Diocese of Konogo-Mampong (Ghana) to hold the position—became the head of the community in 2011.

From 2016 to 2026, Father Anthony Antwi-Boasiako served as the head of the Anglophone Community. Following the departure of Father Bernd Schikofsky, Father Antwi-Boasiako also took on the role of parish administrator for St. Josef in Saarbrücken, which fostered a particularly close collaboration between the Anglophone Community and the local parish.

Since the summer of 2026, Father Joseph Karikari Bonsu has served as the head of the Anglophone Community, while also working as a parochial vicar (cooperator) at the St. Josef parish in Saarbrücken.
The community has approximately 170 members from Ghana and other English-speaking countries around the world.
